Orientation - Adopting from Foster Care

Who are the older kids in foster care who are ready to be adopted? How did they get there? What would I have to do if I want to adopt them? Our Orientation answers these questions and more. You must attend an Orientation before you sign up for training.

NTDC Course for Foster Care and Fostering-to-Adopt

Family Focus offers certification in the National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) for foster and pre-adoptive foster families, as required in New York. Because we are an adoption agency, we have enhanced this training with some of our adoption-specific philosophies. Our training is offered virtually through live Zoom group meetings. You must attend an Orientation before you can sign up for NTDC.

PLEASE NOTE - THE CHILDREN WE PLACE
Family Focus only does pre-adoptive placements from a very small pool of children who are in our Relationships Are Decisions (RAD!) Program. These are specifically NY children who are older than 10 (most are teens), have probably been in foster care for years, and are freed to be adopted, but their own agency hasn’t yet found a family to commit to them. These "Priority 1 Children" are in institutional settings such as therapeutic group homes or residential facilities where they are receiving intensive support and supervision.
